JKL Solutions – Office Supplies, Stationery, Print & Furniture
JKL Solutions and the Environment
Online Office Supplies & Stationery

Here at JKL Solutions, as an ISO 14001 accredited company, our social and environmental impact is constantly assessed. We are always looking at various ways to reduce our impact on the environment and encourage our customers to do the same. The following examples are just a few of the things we can all do to be more environmentally and socially responsible.

Recycled Products

We promote an extensive range of environmentally friendly products, ranging from paper to pencils. Green products tend to have long lives and are re-usable, thereby offering good cost savings to businesses. Look out for our products with an environmental benefit which are seperately indexed  inside our catalogue and online.

Packaging

All of our deliveries come in 100% recycled boxes. We use the smallest amount of packaging possible when making our deliveries, whilst still ensuring that the products reach you in perfect condition. This reduces the packaging waste created through our distribution network.

Deliveries

We are very aware of how much carbon dioxide is created when delivering office supplies, so all of our deliveries are made in a fleet of low emission vans. These achieve significant reductions in nitrogen oxides and particulate emissions.

Recycling

Recycling is one of the easiest and most powerful things you can do to benefit our planet. We are doing everything we can to encourage our customers to recycle, particularly toners and paper. We provide a free of charge collection service, of which all proceeds go to The Children’s Society charity in association with Redeem Plc.

The environment and JKL’s impact upon it is something that we all take very seriously. We demand that our supply chain feels the same way, and it is with this combined effort from all parties that we ensure a successful approach.

Battery Recycling

Where do battery collections go?
After the customer deposits the batteries into one of our BatteryCans we send them to one of two sites in Belgium where the company REVATECH S.A. recycles them. Revatech as a company recovers and disposes of some 155,000 tonnes of dangerous and non-dangerous industrial waste annually, by mechanical, biological and physico-chemical processes.

The recycling process
REVABAT® is a wet recycling process for alkaline and zinc-carbon batteries. This process, developed by REVATECH, is used to recycle the magnetic (steel) and non-magnetic (zinc and brass) metal fractions, recycle the different components of the "black mass" (zinc, carbon and manganese), and reprocess the plastics. The overall recycling rate is at least 55% of the gross weight of the batteries treated, and is well within the norms contemplated by the European Commission.
